Consolidated Decree on operational restrictions for Basel-Mulhouse Airport
The new Ministerial Decree regulating restrictions on the operation of Basel-Mulhouse Airport came into force on 21 May 2020.
Hitherto, the Airport’s operations were regulated by the complementary Ministerial Decrees of 2003, 2013, and 2015. The new Ministerial Decree of 21 May 2020 now combines these regulations into a single document. This enhances clarity.
No change was made in the existing operational restrictions. However, a few points were specified. For example, landing is newly defined as the moment an aircraft touches down on the runway. This clarification was made to harmonise the rules applied at French airports. For take-off, the decisive factor remains the moment an aircraft leaves its parking position for a take-off.
Lastly, the power to grant exemptions has been adapted in line with existing legal prescriptions in France. Henceforth, exemptions may only be granted by the Ministry in charge of civil aviation.
