Tobias Markert appointed new Managing Director of EuroAirport
Tobias Markert has been appointed by the Board of Directors as the new Managing Director of Basel-Mulhouse Airport. He will take office on April 1, 2025 and succeeds Matthias Suhr, who will be taking early retirement after 10 years at the head of the Airport.
Tobias Markert has around twenty years of experience in various functions at executive management level and in project management. Throughout his long career in airport leadership, he has gained extensive experience in the areas of airport operations, management of major investment projects and development of new business activities.
Tobias Markert has worked at various airports in the Zurich Airport Group since 2004:
- From 2004 to 2010, he worked at Zurich Airport, among other things as Project Manager ‘Zurich 2010’ (this included the construction of the new Dock B and the structural implementation of the introduction of the Schengen system).
- From 2010 to 2017, he was COO (Chief Operations Officer) and CCO (Chief Commercial Officer) of Curaçao Airport.
- From 2017 to 2020, he assumed overall responsibility as CEO for Florianópolis Airport (Brazil), whose development he managed as part of a new airport concession.
- Since 2020, he has been in charge of the entire portfolio of airports managed by Flughafen Zürich AG in Latin America.
As already announced in May, Matthias Suhr will be leaving the Airport at the end of April 2025. He has successfully managed EuroAirport with great personal commitment and a steady hand over the past 10 years. The Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank Matthias Suhr for his valuable work and his many years of dedicated service to EuroAirport.
